John O’Donoghue

Jodi O’Donoghue

John grew up in Mallow, North Cork, an area deeply embedded in the Country’s National Hunt Industry. It was, however, flat horse racing that captured his imagination, so he spent time working for trainers Jamie Osborne & John Oxx and Goffs Bloodstock Sales. After graduating from UCC with a degree in Law, he and Jodi moved to the UK, and he began working as Head Lad for David O’Meara.

After two years in Yorkshire, the opportunity to join Roger Varian in Newmarket arose. John spent four years as an Assistant Trainer there before moving home to Ireland to train in Currabeg Stables in the Autumn of 2021.

Jodi is originally from Co. Limerick, Ireland and her background was in showjumping growing up. Whilst studying at UCD, Jodi worked for Camas Park Stud where she found her passion for thoroughbreds. She also worked for The Aga Khan Studs before moving to the UK. Jodi ran successful racing syndicates who had horses with trainers David O’Meara, Tom Clover and Ken Condon and most recently worked for The Jockey Club as a Partnerships Key Account Manager before relocating to Ireland. Here at O’Donoghue Racing, Jodi looks after the day to day running of the business, handles client communications and together with John the buying and selling of horses at bloodstock sales throughout the year.
